Songbirds are Free Takes Flight

On Thursday, September 20, 2007, the launch party marking the nationwide tour for Songbirds are Free took place at the Osterneck Auditorium in Lumberton, North Carolina.

Many thanks to:
Bob Fisher, Director of the Robeson County Public Library;
Sara Hayes of TarPackers Restaurant in St. Paul's, NC for catering the event with authentic recipes from the 1780s and Farleigh Rozier for her assistance in this effort;
Martha Averitt, committee chairperson who spear-headed the organization of the event;
Dollie Kappel for the fall decorations, and for assisting artist Becky Thompson with transforming the Osterneck for this event;
Betty Fisher for supplying furs and for assisting during the booksigning;
Mayme Tubbs for arranging the Indian music in the lobby and for her assistance before, during, and after the event;
Bill Tubbs for the development of the awesome posters and banners, and for supplying the means to project the photographic slide show depicting Mary Neely's journey;
And Ted Taylor for these photographs!

This event would not have been as memorable without the help of these very special people.
