Thursday,
September 20, 2007,
the launch party marking the nationwide tour for
Songbirds are Free
took place at the
Osterneck Auditorium
in Lumberton,
North Carolina.
Many thanks to:
Bob Fisher, Director of the Robeson County Public Library;
Sara Hayes of TarPackers Restaurant in St. Paul's, NC for catering the
event with authentic recipes from the 1780s and Farleigh Rozier for her
assistance in this effort;
Martha Averitt, committee chairperson who spear-headed the organization
of the event;
Dollie Kappel for the fall decorations, and for assisting artist Becky
Thompson with transforming the Osterneck for this event;
Betty Fisher for supplying furs and for assisting during the booksigning;
Mayme Tubbs for arranging the Indian music in the lobby and for her
assistance before, during, and after the event;
Bill Tubbs for the development of the awesome posters and banners, and
for supplying the means to project the photographic slide show depicting
Mary Neely's journey;
And Ted Taylor for these photographs!
This event would not
have been as memorable without the help of these very special people. |
