In the fall of 1779, William Neely and his wife Margaret made a fateful decision: to leave their home in the east and travel westward to Fort Nashborough. |
While William traveled overland with Colonel James Robertson, Margaret and her ten children traveled by river with Colonel John Donelson. The river journey was assumed to be safer than traveling by land.
